Sun is shining over the river at one of the beaches

Vuren is situated at the river basin of various rivers. The village is directly situated to the river 'de Waal'. Farther down this river is called 'Merwede'. At this point, nearby  Woudrichem, another river 'de Maas' flows into the Merwede. At the other side of Vuren , in the direction of Asperen, flows a little river 'de Linge'.
The rivers  offers a lot of recreation in the summer.

High water

In the winter the high water can give some problems. In 1995 the water level was so high, that all the people of Vuren, and a big area in the neighborhood, were evacuated. The dykes couldn't (almost) hold the pressure of all the water.

Low water

The summer of 2003 was extremely dry. The river water level became the lowest since very long time. Because of that, the normal beaches were very broad and there came some new beaches above the water.
